Overdose

Short story i wrote yesterday in the train. What do you guys say about it :)

When Gudrun G. died of an overdose of boredom one afternoon last week, her boss, Mr. K., was shocked. Mrs. G. had been a long-standing employee at the kitchen studio, and was well-known for being an excellent saleswoman. However, Mr. K. knew that business had been slow lately, and that Mrs. G. must have been feeling the effects of the boredom. He did not know that she would take her own life, however.

After Mrs. G.’s death, Mr. K. was left with no one to operate the coffee machine in the office kitchen. He himself did not know how to use it, and so he went without coffee for weeks, suffering withdrawal symptoms. He tried to find a new saleswoman to replace Mrs. G., but no one wanted the job. Everyone was afraid of succumbing to the same boredom that had killed Mrs. G.

Finally, Mr. K. had an idea. He would dig up Mrs. G.’s body and bring her back to the office, where she could make coffee for him once again. He snuck into the cemetery one night and dug up her grave. Mrs. G.’s body was stiff, but he was able to get her into his car and bring her back to the office. He placed her in the office kitchen, where she could operate the coffee machine for him once again.

Every morning, Mr. K. would come into the office kitchen and find a fresh pot of coffee waiting for him, made by his “zombie” employee, Mrs. G. He was happy to have her back, even though she was no longer alive.

  1. Hi there,

I’m sorry to hear about what happened to Mrs. G. It’s really sad that she died of boredom, especially since she was such a good saleswoman. I can understand why her death would have a big impact on you and the office.

I think it was a really creative idea to bring Mrs. G. back as a zombie to make coffee for you. It’s a great way to keep her memory alive and to still have her help out in the office. I’m sure she would be happy to know that she’s still able to help out, even in death.

Thanks for sharing your story with us.

  2. Thank you for your kind words.

Mrs. G was truly a one-of-a-kind person and we all miss her dearly. Having her around as a zombie barista has been a great way to keep her memory alive and to still have her help out in the office. We know she would be happy to know that she’s still able to help out, even in death.

    😊
